The birds have flown out of the mosaic

A scavenger hunt in the Villa of the Birds, Alexandria

Made by Mused

  1. Oh no, the birds flew away!

Look at the famous floors under the big white roof. The birds have hopped right out of their little squares! The little quail is closest, so peek at the floor beside the walkway.

  2. Where did the duck waddle?

Now come down by the round flower mosaic. The duck wanted a splash and a snack, and ducks love a cozy corner.

  3. The pigeon likes the shade.

Go along the long wooden walkway past the old red table. The pigeon is hiding down below the boards, where it is nice and cool.

  4. The parrot is peeking at you.

Find the big mosaic panel hanging on the stone wall. Parrots are nosy birds that love to explore. Who is watching you from behind?

  5. A water bird made a splash.

Walk to the bright glass wall at the end of the villa. The water bird is looking for a quiet place to rest, and big old stones make a fine perch.

  6. Uh oh, a sneaky cat!

Last one! Someone fuzzy has been sneaking after the birds down here on the old floors. Listen for soft little paws over by the long white ledge.

Hooray, every runaway is home! The peacock never left its panel, because it was much too proud to hop off such a pretty floor. You made the Villa of the Birds whole again, and the cat promises to behave. Mostly.
