A time traveller dropped her gadgets all over Sardis
A scavenger hunt in the Synagogue and Bath/Gymnasium Complex, Sardis

The time machine just glitched!
Her machine sputtered over Sardis and spilled her gadgets across the centuries. The first one landed in the sunken rooms of the old shops beside this path, along the synagogue wall.
Where did all that gold come from?
Lydia's last king, Croesus, was so rich that his name still means rich. The gadget for looking far away landed up high, as if somebody wanted to spy the hills where the Pactolus stream ran with gold.
Jump ahead to Roman Sardis!
Togas, steam and the smell of olive oil! Through the columns ahead lies the Marble Court, the showpiece of the Roman bath and gymnasium. Something ticking fell inside it.
Step into the great synagogue.
Under the white canopy lies the great synagogue. The gadget that freezes moments rolled away into its long main hall, across the mosaic floor between the marble columns.
One last jump home!
The arches of the old bath halls stand tall again, freshly dug out of the earth. The key to the time machine is somewhere on the old walls right behind you.
Every gadget is back in her pocket and the machine hums home to today. You jumped from Lydian gold through Roman marble and a great synagogue to the diggers of 1958, and Sardis was there for all of it. Nice flying, time traveller.
